2014 January Aikido Keiko Reflections

11th Keiko (5th Kyu)

2014 Jan13 Keiko (11th)
Sensei Dam

Haha, di ko maalala ginawa natin kanina. Hmmm. But I enjoyed the entire session. Sulit. Dami ng pawis ko. Hingal hingal din at some point.

Wait, all attacks were katate tori. And we had iriminage (yung walang ikot), ikkyo, sumi otoshi, and... weh, cant recall. Huhu. Addition from Wacky Sensei: Kokyu nage

Learned better about proper katate tori both as uke and as nage. Finally understood why backward okuri ashi is approriate when the uke is strong... here the force of the push towards the nage during katate tori is optimised and used against the uke. In short, it's BLENDING, the KI in Aikido.

Sempais and Senseis... baka mali akesh. Check and correct din kayels pag may time ha. Thanks.

Inserts from Sempai Chrys: eto yung irimi nage:

10th Keiko (5th Kyu)

2014 Jan 9 Keiko under Sensei Royce
Mantra: Blend, Uproot, Conclude. The 3 components, so far, of breaking down the elements of an Aikido technique. If one can further break these into finer steps, the better. I heard this from S. Royce several times "a mark of a master is his ability to break each technique into smaller components".

We did slow but focused review of taenohenko (slightly different stle), suwariwasa ikkyo, ushiro ryotetori shihonage, shomenuchi nikyo... emphasizing too hamni in every step. Stance or hamni tells you the direction of your throw or projections.
